Climategate Inquiry concludes science is sound

Climategate Scientists Vindicated

The debate over climate change continues to move forward, though it gets ugly at times.  To me, most of this seems to be two sides who are interested in one conclusion or another.  It is a fight for power and the minds of the public at large.

We have a group of scientists who collect data and crunch the numbers to try to understand the global dynamics and prove that humans are at least partially causing the earth warm. This entire question has tremendous geopolitical ramifications.  And there are those who have a vested interest in the conclusion coming out one way or another.  And so, mixed into the entire process is a set of propaganda designed to influence the public.

Amidst all the furor surrounding this issue, the scientists doing the research attempted to use various nefarious tactics to squeeze any skeptics out of the scientific review process.  This is always a bad move.  There has always been an element of this in science.  The key to advancing science is the peer review process.  This is why scientists must note everything they do so that another researcher may review what was done and duplicate the results.

Various emails that these scientists sent to each other appear to support claims that they were faking the results.  The review panel stated that the science is sound and not in question. Since the conclusion of the panel is contrary to what the climate change doubters want to hear, they will incorporate this into the climate change myth.

I want to point out that I have no desire for the climate research to reach one conclusion or another.  What I want is the best scientific data we can get.  After that, let the chips fall where they may.  I am open to any conclusion.  I do not parttake in the conspiracy theory that it's a grand scheme to control everything.  If there are doubts about the science, so be it.  Doubts in science are good.  However, it would be a logical fallacy to state that because there are doubts that the complete theory is discredited.

All sides in this debate need to cool down.

Belief is for religion, not science.  I would rather not make decisions based on what someone believes. I would like the most accurate facts I can get.  If it is true that the science is flawed, throw it out and start again.   Let the data speak.
